You’ll learn about eligibility requirements, SBA’s loan programs, surety bonds and the role of SBA, equity capital topics, special purpose loans, SBA partner topics and 7(a) lender programs. A great place to start is to check out the SBA’s Finance Primer: A Guide to SBA’s Loan Guarantee Programs (Flash video).

Overview of the SBA’s programs
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is an independent Agency of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. It is charged with the responsibility of providing four primary areas of assistance to American Small Business. These are: Advocacy, Management, Procurement, and Financial Assistance. Financial Assistance is distributed primarily four ways:

Grants
The SBA does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, though it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. While the SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments. However, the SBA website provides a comprehensive repository of grant programs , including links to each program, on its website. The following were listed at the time of writing:
